Open AI Hardware Device

Saw this earlier and thought it was interesting.

OpenAI is reportedly working on its first hardware device, potentially launching in 2026. The rumour is something wearable, designed around voice or gesture rather than screens.

Feels like a big shift away from “AI lives in apps” towards AI being something you interact with more naturally, all day.

Curious what people think. Exciting direction, or something you’d be hesitant to adopt?

Yeah, I’ve been hearing this for a while. I remember a couple of months ago there was talk about OpenAI working on a hardware device. I heard things like a ring, or maybe a pendant you wear around your neck.

I mean, it’s super cool. It’s a way to give the AI more context to work with, so you can get better, more driven responses.

But it’s also really scary. It feels like we might be heading towards a future where AI is just everywhere and always listening. It makes you think about how much data someone could end up having on you. I probably wouldn’t want that going back to OpenAI, but I’d be fine with it if it was kept somewhere secure.

What do you think?
